This summer my husband, Ryan, and I went on our first vacation together to visit my brother, his girlfriend, and their German Wirehaired Pointer, Susie Q, in the mountains of Idaho. I could go on and on about how much fun we had, how good it was to spend some time with them, and how absolutely beautiful the scenery was…but this post is about Susie Q.
Kevin and Kari spent the summer managing a small resort along the Salmon River in Stanley, Idaho, and while I’m not sure they would say it was their perfect summer, I think we could all agree that Susie had it pretty good. For the most part, Susie had free run of the land, plenty of people to throw her beloved tennis balls for her, lots of chipmunks to sniff out, and plenty of hikes through the mountains. Life was really rough.![]()
One afternoon Kevin and Susie took Ryan and I on a hike into the Sawtooth Mountains. To say I was amazed at Susie’s endless energy would be an understatement. As Ryan and I huffed and puffed our barely-above-sea-level lungs up the mountain trail, Susie literally did laps around us. When we reached our destination we joked that in the time it took us to get there, Susie could have been up and down the mountain three times if we weren’t there holding her back.
Believe me when I say that below is a very pared down assortment of the pictures I have from our trip. We can’t wait to go back!
